Private Wealth is highly concentrated its concentration is a logical corollary of monopolistic behaviour which can only be seen as irresistible when the Banks and Corporations also Monopolise the Money supply through debt of which there is no question what so ever.
Democracy ( such that it exists or ever has existed?) is most certainly at risk , the exposure of it never having existed is certainly a possibility. Can the world have a successful and fair and useful banking system , Yes.
