Muiris Mag Ualghairg I thought he was
1) an Islamist fundamentalist
2) a communist
But now he’s a fascist!
The opinion where speculative would be a hypothesis and the hypothesis may then be tested against certain criteria against which it might be falsified. If we take Roosevelts definition what conclusions might we draw. We could also take Umberto Ecos tests from his famous essay U R Fascism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definitions_of_fascism
As regards President Obama, I say if the cap fits, that is just my opinion.https://letthemconfectsweeterlies.blogspot.se/…/u-r…

Roger Lewis Ranjan, the theatre is sublime, infact Absurdist gold.
in Men from Caria (fr. 111) when he mocks one of the sophists for dancing at a dinner party, saying the following:
Don’t you see the
pansy dancing with his hands? He’s not ashamed—the
man who explains Heracleitus to everyone,
and is the only person able to make sense of
Theodectas’ art57
Roger Lewis On France´s upcoming vote Ranjan, we will see what happens. The same broad narratives will dominate as in this Demos report which covers. France, Spain Poland , Germany and Sweden.
https://www.demos.co.uk/…/Nothing-to-Fear-but-Fear…
Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself
There is a spectre haunting Europe: a culture and politics of fear, which asserts its growing influence in myriad ways. Most visibly, in the rise of far-right populist movements, the collapse of the social contract between citizens and political institutions, and in the proliferation of authoritarian and exclusionary rhetoric.
This pan-European project has sought to capture a snapshot of the ways in which fear is manifesting in the social and political climate of six different member states: the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Poland and Sweden.
The narratives around the financial Crisis and also the Migrant/refugee crisis have been couched in terms of Global Markets, opportunity, Multiculturalism and fiscal responsibility even Climate Change. Austerity and remaining competitive in world markets is the mantra of the EU and National Politicians both Left and Right where they belong to the Danistocracy
https://letthemconfectsweeterlies.blogspot.se/…/austeri…
In a Global Economy where the System of Political Economy has not just mal functioned but seized up, we should not be surprised that many of the same issues which make up Brexit are also present in the US and France.
The Mistake many well meaning people on my side in the Left make is that Globalism and Internationalism are the same thing they are not. Internationalism is Willing Cooperation, Globalism is Authoritarian Coercion. ´´A biggly difference Sad!´´to give it some Trump spunk.

Fillon and Macron are a bit stuffy really but extreme gauche candidate is closest to le pen’s economics.
Roger Lewis Hi Ranjan, what is so disconcerting is that Hollande (supposedly Socialist) , and who initially challenged the Austerity consensus and was punished for it has gone full blown TINA and Joined the Centrist Fascism that is Neo-Liberalism. Here in Sweden, Löven who’s is nominally Social Democratic again was punished for coming in, to the left of the Centrist Neo-Liberal Fascism of Reinfeldt and punished for it and low and behold Sweden is coerced back into the Centrist neo-liberal fascist fold.
Le Pen is not a Fascist neither is trump and neither is Nigel Farage they are Libertarian Conservatives and their Right Wing Social conservative opinions are branded as racist or Fascist. I do not agree with them politically but I call them what they are and I call Clinton and Obama and Soros what they are , they are fascists.
The degree of ignorance of Political Theory and for ideology one has to look at the back-ground theory that supports the Rhetoric of any ideological movements Spokesmen and women.

The quote isn’t originally about Obama, although every single part of the statement can be found, explicitly or indirectly, in the government’s defense in the Snowden/NSA scandal.
Replace “Obama” with “Hitler”, and you have the original. It’s from Milton Mayer’s classic They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-45, and the words are those of a university colleague of the author, explaining “the ever widening gap, after 1933, between the government and the people.”
Oh well, maybe the USA isn’t a fascist state after all. We’ll see what happens with the Congress vote about Syria.

Marc Bright I do detest how those who think they’ve discovered something the rest of us can’t/won’t see, constantly use the term “mainstream” as if it’s obviously what the simple/idiots among us pick up because it’s so easy – this always seems to be the implication.
If only we weren’t sheeple then we could be well informed, clever people like those who dig behind the facts, avoid the “mainstream”, etc.
It all seems so self aggrandising to me. There is an intellectual sneer at “the mainstream” as if it can only ever be dumb. Those with true awareness can see through this mainstream sham, etc. The same people ask the rest of us to “have an open mind” (implication, ours are currently closed), etc. We need to “go deep” (implication, we’re too lazy do it). It’s all a constant stream of telling us we’re just not aware of what’s going on – and telling us this seems more important than the actual tale.
