Anger, aggression, and intense emotional pain are not the only products of rejection though. It has been found through studies that experiencing or reliving rejection can cause our IQs to be lowered temporarily, as we are unable to think clearly during such moments. Furthermore, rejection seems to trigger the self destruct sequence built within our brains, as is evident in everyone who has continuously found fault in themselves and experienced low self esteem after being rejected by a romantic interest.

Roger Lewis KAt you need to get some space and think this through. The Greens were hugely rejected and The One Trick Pony was the only High Point.
Kat Boettge We weren’t rejected people voted for Labour as if it was a presidential election. Corbyn has policies that are the same as ours see 2015 manifesto. Many Green members even voted for Labour so it wasn’t a rejection but an opposition to May.
Mark Wilson I know a fair amount of people that could/would have voted Green but went with Labour this time with the aim of hitting the Conservatives. You have to bear in mind how many people don’t vote Green simply because their area doesn’t have a cultivated Green presence. Arguably you could say the same for UKIP but that simply means the votes would be spread across the political spectrum more accurately.

You are a very good example of well-meaning but massively naive Greens who are blinded by your world view which others see pragmatically and you can only see Idealistically. The Green Manifesto was a shambles, It rowed way back on monetary reform. What all of the Greens in the Green Bubble need to do is shut up and really listen for a while to what more experienced heads and more pragmatic heads have to say.
Caroline is a One Trick Pony as is the Green party under the Joint t Leadership. It was the GP leadership which was presidential, not this General Election. May tried to make it that but the Labour Party did Not, “The Many not the Few” that should tell you something.
Richmond was shown up as the Pyrrhic victory it always would be.Zac Goldsmith was returned and guess what He is Very Green and supports monetary reform, I venture he would probably agree that PR is desperately needed for the health of our democracy.
There will either be another General Election in the Autumn or there is a possibility of a Brexit Fixed term coalition. I believe and have been saying for almost two years now that The result of the 2015 Election and the Scots indy referendum result and Brexit vote that PR would become essential for maintaining a more federal United Kingdom.
Theresa May is increasing that urgency with her incompetent and desperate dalliance with the DUP.

Overlooked and unelected.

When I was nine
a lickspittle Beckenbauer
Dreams of footie triumph were mine
commander of the middle of the field
creator of the long through ball
behind the front three tasked to sweep
On team selection Day unselected
my best friend was listed Star centre-forward
I went home to weep
I still Loved my friend and wanted my team-mates to triumph
I mourned my own loss but still cheered on and longed for my chance.

When I was 12 and in Big School
a team of 11 became 15 and the ball
was a different shape. I was on the team
I found my Game and dreamt of leadership
The team elected its new captain there.
I was not their elected leader my best friend was
I voted for my best friend he voted for me
I loved my friend and served as his lieutenant
it was still hard to swallow but I didn´t cry.

We made the County Finals several years later
We were soundly beaten in the semis
Radley College against our comprehensive
Motely Crew. Killed in the first half
Learned quickly and held a draw for the second half
The school turned out to see our brave defeat
We attended the final and Radley won, we were their biggest
heartiest and fiercest cheerleaders,
they were the better side , for the first half at least, and we learned a lot from them.

Kat Boettge Sorry you are completely wrong. Labour made it as well about Corbyn. So many voters said to me that they would vote for Labour to get Corbyn (even in Nottingham East where the Labour MP is anti Corbyn).

Roger Lewis Hi, Mark, I do not understand what point it is you are making. 1.6% down from 3.8% of total vote share is nearly a 58% fall that’s pretty appalling. it’s a drop of over 1,000,000 votes One Million Votes less.

Mark Hall Green Party members and supporters in some parts of the country decided to throw their support behind the local Labour or LibDem candidates in an attempt to ensure that the damage of an outright Conservative victory could be avoided.
To complain that Green Party votes are down, in an election when the party was actually “giving away votes” for the good of the country, is a bit churlish.
Roger Lewis Mark, that is only partly true and conjecture on both of our parts regardless of how one would reckon the split, many people rejected the outright anti-Brexit rhetoric, the Lib Dems are sort of the control sample for your Thesis.

Ian Bangay Yes, I was telling everyone to “vote tactically” because we needed so much to get the Tories out. Then I went off to vote in my safe Tory seat and voted Green knowing that it was a vote to be ignored. It is past time that we are no longer disenfranchised. Surely democracy means that votes count and FPTP does not allow that happen.
Barbara Serres I agree that the results would have been markedly different Kat but I don’t really understand how anyone can estimate where people’s second vote would go based on a small sample?

Alan Sawyer I’m a member of the Green Party. I voted tactically for the Lib Dems in my constituency. I’d like to see what the results would have been if this had been a Single Transferrable Vote election and I had voted Green first and Labour second
Roger Lewis Time will tell, David Dimbleby alluded to it during the Election night broadcast. To maintain the Union it will become a political necessity. DO not bet on that not happening sooner than later, Martin.

Jeff Buck A couple of points… (1) I saw very few people exhorting us all to ‘Vote Labour’, whereas I saw thousands upon thousands urging me to ‘Vote for Jeremy Corbyn’. (2) I don’t think the Greens were rejected. Many of my ‘green’ friends are also Remainers and voted tactically to remove the Tories and, in so doing, to get a better Brexit deal (or scupper Brexit completely, but that was always pie-in-the-sky). Others are caring people with a social conscience and so ‘lent’ Labour their support in order to remove May and her band of brutal austerity-freaks. (3). Their support for Labour has been thrown back in their face by a lack of anything even approaching gratitude, let alone any consideration of reciprocity and (particularly with May still being in power despite their best efforts) there is now a growing mood that the Greens should stand on their own feet and forge their place in British politics as a third or fourth party. This will not be a short-term project, but the ever increasing effects of climate change and the continued binary politics of red and blue, and people’s dissatisfaction with what this delivers, will bring about change in the next 10 years.
