Another zombie money pit ?
” Our calculations show that Tesla needs to raise at least $5 billion of equity, if not closer to $8 billion, to stay solvent in the next 14 months. We do not believe that this will be possible. The company owes suppliers roughly $3 billion of unsecured payments, which could be “called” at any time, similar to a run on a bank “.

A few weeks ago, we shared a note about Tesla from the hedge fund Vilas Capital Management. The firm, which is short the shares, said “Tesla is going to crash in…

Steve Finney ” If Tesla’s suppliers simply asked for their past invoices to be paid and to be paid in cash at the time of their next parts delivery — a likely outcome the worse Tesla’s balance sheet gets — it is clear that Tesla would need to file for protection from creditors “.

Steve Finney I wouldn’t want to be one of those who have paid in total around 800 million in deposits, which the banks would gobble up first..

Roger Lewis or apple I guess. at a pure business level its an interesting battle. I think Tesla has a good product but has serious competition coming down the road. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MocHcoBm4bUManage

Steve Finney Perhaps I have a skewed view but all i have heard about is wheels falling off, the extreme flammability of lithium batteries, he treats his workers like shit, thinks he is going to Mars or at least someone who is prepared to die. I think you are right though & they will get gobbled up.

Roger Lewis Musk is one man Tesla is a company of many individuals all with unique talents, without them Musk is nothing.
Confusing any organisation or Nation for that matter with figureheads or so-called leaders is a dangerous exercise.

Steve Finney You obviously are better informed than me, but as far as the car batteries are concerned the reaction of the fire department who couldn’t put out that fire at the fatal crash scene, speaks volumes for me. I also cannot see the point in self driving cars, what does it actually add ? there appears to be looming problems with insurance liability & how they are going to make it work within a pile of crumbling infrastructure is beyond me, especially if they as likely stick with the PPP BS to renew it. I suppose it might only be meant for cities at least in the US due to the surrounding areas becoming wastelands of human devastation in which a car is increasingly becoming something that a family has to live in.

Roger Lewis Hi Stevie, as with all technology it can be used wisely and for good or turned to less than beneficial ends.
Self-driving or autonomous vehicles will offer all sorts of benefits in use over ownership models for personal transportation.

Roger Lewis sorry about all the links. It all fits in with my work on the distributed web block chain and smart trustless contracts you see and things like Universal Basic Income. Now Musk advocates for a form of UBI which is very unpopular people like Thomas Sheridan ( who I like say this sort of thing.

Roger Lewis This is my comment to Thomas Who I stress I really do like and find many of his theories incredibly compelling. I think Thomas is talking about Musks vision whereas Paine in Rights of Man was concerned with the loss of possibilities of self-provisioning due to the enclosures of the common land and the current robotisation of many manual tasks is another sort of technological enclosure of the industrial commons.

Not the most considered exposition on the subject, we all need to Rant now and again and let off steam. Here is a dialogue from the prospect of Basic Income and Universal citizens income from the perspective of how money works in an economy and is created. There are arguments even amongst advocates of a Basic Income/Citizens income as to whether it should be universal or come from the standpoint of a Job Guarantee.

In an Urban society, it is a little more difficult to have Land rights-based solution, it is also true that Minicom the only large-scale trial of such a system was a success in terms of Health both Mental and physical in the area of Manitoba it was trialled.

Thomas Paine argued for a Citizens Income he understood that the migration from the Land to the cities which was forced ( see Land Clearances for details) involved people giving up the Ability to be self-sufficient.
I am fortunate to live in Rural Sweden and to have a degree of Self Sufficiency, that would be harder in a Swedish City or Town although people here like in Germany do have small holdings in out of town communities which are like scaled up Allotments.

‘The first to develop the idea of a social insurance was Marquis de Condorcet (1743–1794). After playing a prominent role in the French Revolution, he was imprisoned and sentenced to death. While in prison, he wrote the Esquisse d’un tableau historique des progrès de l’esprit humain (published posthumously by his widow in 1795), whose last chapter described his vision of a social insurance and how it could reduce inequality, insecurity and poverty. Condorcet mentioned, very briefly, the idea of a benefit to all children old enough to start working by themselves and to start up a family of their own. He is not known to have said or written anything else on this proposal, but his close friend and fellow member of the Convention Thomas Paine (1737–1809) developed the idea much further, a couple of years after Condorcet’s death.’

Scandinavian Culture is not for everyone, I miss parts of Pub Culture and Workingman’s club culture in the UK, but I do not miss the UK and its many social problems which are a lot to do with the huge levels of Inequality, baked into the Cake of the system of Political Economy There. A lot of the ”Ol Bollocks Gobshite crap** in Thomas’ Rant here sure plays well to the Gallery but I have to say does not chime with my experience of Sweden, Having lived here for 8 years and been visiting regularly since 2005. It has got worse in that time mainly due to trying to be more like the UK of Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair, I think things will change here for the better rather easier than they will in Ireland or the Uk, simply because Swedish Democracy is actually rather more functional , still the Oligarchy Globalist system plays here but culturally Swedes and Scandinavians do the Democracy *Thing* rather better, it has been around rather longer, Google **THING` political assembly.
